Events we cover

Our motorsport heritage and training make us the ideal partner for events where there are enhanced risks. Our volunteers are trained in pre hospital trauma care, drivers are blue light trained and from 2017 everyone is DBS checked annually. The following gives an overview of the range of events we cover.

Normandy Rescue have two licensed MSA Rescue Units. These multipurpose vehicles carry basic firefighting equipment, stabilisation and extrication tools as well as all the equipment required to operate as an Emergency Ambulance. We cover the Jersey Rally, Hill Climbs, Sprints and Grasstrack events for both the JMC&LCC and the Classic and Vintage Club.

Air Display

Each year we provide the full cover for the largest free event in the Islands' calendar. The Jersey International Air Display sees all our volunteer medics on duty! We provide two medical centres, one on the lower park on The Avenue and a second on the Waterfront, as well as two Emergency Ambulances and a rapid response vehicle.

Boxing

White Collar Boxing has increased in popularity in Jersey over the past few years. We provide medical cover to the majority of the events in the island. We will often work alongside a doctor or consultant to provide pre fight medical checks, ringside cover and emergency transport if required.

Other sports

There are a variety of other sports event we cover in the island and these include the St Lawrence Horse Show, Jersey Powerboat Festival, Extreme Sports Festival and many many more.

We have been working with the Jersey Triathlon Club for a number of years. Despite the early starts, we cover all of their club events with an Emergency Ambulance and a minimum of two medics. Then once a year we supply a finish line medical centre and three Emergency Ambulances for Salamanca Jersey Triathlon.

From humble beginnings a couple of years ago, the Sandstorm Adventure race has grown to become one of the largest mass participation events in the island.
The location provides unique challenges requiring a 4x4 vehicle as well as an Emergency Ambulance, we are on scene to provide any support required to the hundreds of participants tackling the wide range of land and water based obstacles.

Martial arts

From Jiu-Jitsu to MMA cagefights, Normandy Rescue are ringside at all the public events in the island. We will provide pre fight medical checks, ringside cover, post event care and emergency transport. The scene is very well organised, with some world class referees, who we know well, so despite being high impact and high adrenalin events our role is usually just providing ice packs!

Whilst we cover mainly sporting events, we also cover a number of other public and community events. From the Seaside Festival at Havre de Pas to the Monster Truck show.

The number of road running events continues to grow in Jersey. We cover a range of these including the Easter Marathon, Durrell Challenge and Durrell Dash and Jersey Spartans Half Marathon. Depending upon the scale of the event we will usually supply an Emergency Ambulance following the runners en route, and either a medical centre or Emergency Ambulance at the finish line.

The motocross track at Sorel is one of the more challenging locations for our team. The course is set into the side of a headland, and only our specialist Land Rover Ambulance can access the track depending upon conditions even this is not guaranteed. We provide a minimum of two medics who more often than not return home covered in mud!

Xmas lights

The St Helier Christmas light switch on has boomed in popularity recently. We provide two Emergency Ambulances and a team of medics to be on hand in and around St Helier for this very child friendly event. If any of you know our volunteer paramedic, you will understand just how exciting this first glimpse of Santa is to him!

Film work

We have provided cover for a number of production companies filming in the island. Whilst we don't provide day to day first aid cover for the duration of the shoot, we are often used where an enhanced level of cover is required for stunts, aerial, pyro, water or firearms work.
